Citations & provenance for AI agent answers

Don’t just get answers.
Get the receipts.

AgentCite wraps your AI agents with a provenance layer. Every response ships with verifiable citations — the exact tool calls, file reads, web sources, and prompts that produced it. Ship as an SDK, REST API, or MCP server.

Three lines of code. Every answer becomes an auditable receipt.

Everything you need to trust agent output

Built for developers shipping AI agents where a wrong answer has a cost — support bots, coding agents, research pipelines, and anything user-facing.

Trace every answer to its sources

AgentCite records the full provenance chain behind each agent response — tool calls, file reads, web fetches, and prompt versions — and attaches it as structured citations.

Inline, clickable citations

Claims in agent output link straight to the evidence: the tool result, the file line, the source URL. Reviewers verify in one click instead of re-running the task.

Replay & diff any run

Reproduce past agent runs exactly. Compare two runs of the same task and see which sources changed — catch silent drift before it ships.

Block unverified claims

Set verification policies per agent: fail closed when a response contains unsupported claims, or flag and log them. Hallucinations become build errors.

MCP server for agents

Any MCP client can call AgentCite to cite-as-it-works. Claude, Cursor, or your own agents attach receipts to every answer with zero prompt engineering.

Audit-ready exports

Export any run as Markdown or JSON with the full citation graph — ready for compliance reviews, incident postmortems, or your repo docs.

From black-box answers to receipts in three lines

Instrument once — get citations in every interface: your app, your terminal, and your agents.

01

Wrap your agent calls

Install the AgentCite SDK and wrap your agent loop — three lines for LangChain, OpenAI SDK, Anthropic SDK, or raw tool loops. The REST API covers everything else.

02

Every answer gets a receipt

AgentCite records the provenance chain — tool calls, file reads, web sources, prompt versions — and returns citations you can render inline, store, or export.

03

Verify via MCP or dashboard

Reviewers click through citations to raw evidence. Your agents verify each other’s claims via MCP. Unverified claims trip your policy — before they reach users.

Loved by agent builders

Teams use AgentCite to turn black-box agent answers into verifiable, auditable receipts.

Our support agent quoted a refund policy that didn’t exist. With AgentCite the citation graph showed the claim had zero supporting sources. Caught it before the customer did.

Sarah Chen
CTO, PromptLayer

We point reviewers at the receipts instead of re-running tasks. Escalations dropped by a third in the first month.

Marcus Webb
Head of Engineering, SynthAPI

Three lines of SDK and every answer from our coding agent ships with sources. It’s the audit trail our compliance team kept asking for.

Questions & answers

Everything else you might want to know before you instrument.

AgentCite adds a citations & provenance layer to AI agents. It records the full chain behind every agent response — tool calls, file reads, web sources, and prompt versions — and returns it as structured, clickable citations. Every answer ships with verifiable receipts.
A TypeScript SDK (works with raw loops, OpenAI/Anthropic SDKs, and common agent frameworks), a REST API for everything else, and an MCP server so any MCP client can cite-as-it-works. If your agent makes tool calls, AgentCite can instrument it.
Three lines: install the SDK, wrap your agent call, render the citations. The wrapper is transparent — your agent’s behavior doesn’t change, only its output gains a receipt.
Per-agent rules for unverified claims: log them, flag them, or fail closed. When a response contains a statement with no supporting source, AgentCite can block it before it reaches your users — hallucinations become build errors.
A server that exposes citation, replay, and verification as MCP tools. Claude, Cursor, or your own agents can pull receipts for any past run — or verify another agent’s claims mid-task.
Yes — any run exports to Markdown or JSON with the full citation graph attached, ready for compliance reviews, postmortems, or your repo docs.
